Though I have never used it for frothing milk, I have used it to make hot chocolate, mixed drinks, and single serving drink mixes. It's great for premixing the hot chocolate powder into some coffee creamer while waiting for the water to boil while making hot chocolate, and then to stir in the water. It gives the hot chocolate a thick creamy consistency that is very nice. It did well with mixed drinks too. Where it really excels is mixing single serving powdered drink mixes into water. Normally no matter how hard I try, I get some unmixed globs of powder as residue at the bottom of the glass when mixing by spoon or shaking. With the milk frother, I usually start with about 2/3 glass of water. I spin up the water real well, and add the drink mix into the vortex, followed by a more thorough mixing near the bottom of the glass. Maybe 30seconds to a minute in total. Then I top it off with either more water, or seltzer (for a sparking soda like effervescence. A quick rinse of the wire tip under the stream of the kitchen sink while spinning cleans any residue off quite effectively. Out of curiosity I've even used it to mix up and froth eggs for scrambling. I wouldn't recommend it for eggs, but it did do it.The milk frother itself feels very sturdy. The tolerances of the construction are tight, and it feels very solid in the hand. It takes 2 AA batteries, and the battery door clips in very soundly and securely. It also comes with a hanging hook and magnetic mount. The magnetic mount has an adhesive backing for sticking it to a vertical surface like your backsplash tile, a cabinet, or the like. It was this mount where I took one star away, as I don't really have anywhere to adhere it to that is convenient yet out of the way. I would much preferred it to have come with a stand base option. The mount has a magnet in it that holds the frother in place. The magnets strength could be a little bit stronger though, as it feels a little weak, and the frother can fall out of it if jounced. This can especially be a problem if you intend to mount in locations such as the backside of a cabinet door where the magnet will need to be stronger than inertial forces when closing the cabinet door.Overall though, this is a well built, and useful accessory for your kitchen. And like my hot water kettle, I now question why I held off so long to get one, as I use it every day.
